The Chinese New Year event will feature 'The Story of the Chinese Lion,' a theatrical/dance performance based on Chinese Mythology. Afterwards there will be Martial Arts demonstrations, and performances by Andian music group Kuyayky, and Indian music group Bhakti.

"The Lion Dance comes from Ancient Chinese Mythology, we will tell the story and perform the traditional Lion Dance," says Ryan Browne Entertainment Director of the Event.

The event, which also celebrates Acupuncture & Massage College's 25 anniversary, includes free seminars on Chinese herbs for women's health and acupuncture for ailments.

On the Western calendar, the start of the New Year falls on Monday, January 26, 2009, the Year of the Ox; events are held around the world. Beginning with the Chinese New Year eve, people decorate their homes with symbols and bold colors signifying good fortune, wealth and happiness. Homes are cleaned and spaces accentuated with colorful fruits and flowers.

"We are proud to be the first acupuncture school in Florida to Celebrate our 25th anniversary. Please come and join us for a wonderful day of activities and events," said Dr. Richard Browne, Founder and President of Acupuncture and Massage College

Celebrations traditionally include fireworks, traditional dragon and lion dances, drumming, dragon boat races, and lantern festivals where craftsmen display multihued paper lanterns in various shapes. Chinese New Year is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays, sometimes referred to as the Lunar New Year.
