College of the Canyons is now offering two new courses in its spring community education program. Students can now take a pharmacy technician class, completed in 27 weeks, or a massage therapy class, completed in 17 weeks. Both classes are designed to provide jobs or update those with these skill sets in a time and cost efficient manner. The classes are offered in collaboration with Boston Reed College. The RX technician class will be held from 8 am to 3:30 pm Saturdays starting January 24, 2009 at the College of the Canyons Canyon County campus. The Massage classes will be 8 am to 4:30 pm Saturdays starting February 21, 2009 at the Valencia Campus. Both classes require a pre-assessment of math and English skills in addition to a high school diploma or equivalent as well as competency in or completion of a basic computer operations course. Students must be at least 18 years old. The RX technician's course is $2,295 while the massage course is $2,190; these fees include books, consumable supplies, and an externship which will provide students with real world experience in their field. An information session will be held on January 10, 2009 at the Valencia campus Aliso Hall, Room 101.
