TUCSON, Ariz., Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/--- Cortiva Institute Tucson will host an Introduction to Massage Therapy Workshop Dec. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the school's 6390 East Broadway Blvd. location, which will include an opportunity for participants to learn and practice basic massage strokes.
"Massage therapy is a growing field and Cortiva Institute Tucson is growing right along with it," said Joann McMaster, president of Cortiva Institute Tucson.
In fact, the U.S. Department of Labor's 2009-2010 Occupational Outlook Handbook states that employment for massage therapists is expected to increase 20 percent through 2016, faster than average for all occupations.
The Cortiva admissions team will be on hand to discuss curriculum, class scheduling options, career services, placement opportunities and the financial aid process, accepting applications for the upcoming session, which begins on Jan. 11, 2010.
Instructors, who are professional massage therapists, will also speak and be available to answer questions. The hands-on section of the event will begin with the instructors demonstrating basic massage strokes on head, neck, shoulder, arm, hand, legs and feet. They will also discuss the benefits of massage therapy.
Finally, participants will get their chance to practice what they've learned. Participants use the last hour of the class to pair up and practice the basic massage strokes from the demonstration given by the instructors. Participants are encouraged to bring a friend or family member if it would make them more comfortable practicing on someone they know.
This event is free, but RSVPs are requested and participants are asked to call (520) 407-5151 or visit www.cortiva.com/tucson to register.
