Holistic Massage Training Institute graduates achieved a 100-percent pass rate on the National Certification Exam again for the period Jan. through June 30, 2012.
Holistic Massage Training Institute opened its doors in November 1999, starting with three students taking their first steps toward rewarding careers as massage therapists. Over the past 13 years, the school has graduated 91 students, and continues to provide massage therapy instruction, serving students from Baltimore, Maryland, and from the surrounding areas as far as West Virginia. The school is approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), and certified by the Department of Education for federal student aid.
Holistic Massage Training Institute offers a 600-hour (nine or 12 month) massage therapy training which, once completed, will qualify the student to sit for the National Certification Exam for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, and become licensed to practice massage therapy in Maryland. Our program provides students the experience, hands-on-training and essential knowledge of what is needed to operate a successful massage practice. Our pass rate on the National Certification Exam has averaged 97 percent over the past four years, compared to statewide and nationwide averages below 70 percent.
Graduates of our training will be qualified to do basic Swedish and deep-tissue massage. However, as the name "holistic" implies, we also offer our students a robust, well-rounded curriculum that includes training in many techniques like craniosacral therapy, chakra balancing, myofascial release, acupressure, shiatsu, reflexology, prenatal massage, massage for infants, children and geriatric clients, and medical massage.
Our school has an incredible group of nine instructors who bring 110 years of combined experience as massage therapists to the classroom. Our students hold massage clinics at various times during their training where they practice their techniques on members of the public, under the supervision of their instructors. They also participate in charitable events and health fairs. This real-world experience is invaluable to our students.
We boast small classes, typically four to six students per instructor, which allows for extensive personal attention. Our maximum class size is 10 students per instructor. Our students are diverse in age and gender, ranging in age from 17 to 61 years old.
We are currently the only school offering training in massage therapy in Baltimore. For more information, call (410) 243-4688 or visit www.holisticmassagetraining.org.
