In August 2008 the Colorado Department of Higher Education, Division of Private Occupational Schools approved a 230 hour Equine Massage Program for the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage (RMSAAM).
"We have a history of responding to the needs of the animal industry and the feedback we were getting was to expand our Equine Massage Program as well as provide a broader offering of continuing education classes for massage therapists, veterinary technicians and others" said Lisa Speaker, Founder and Executive Director.
The new program is split into two levels of training. Level 1 is focused on Therapeutic Massage Techniques, Anatomy and Physiology, Business Building and the Benefits of Massage for horses. Level 2 is a more advanced approach to massage and focuses on Working with Athletes, Pressure Point Massage, Cranial Massage and Pathology.
Each level requires the student to complete an anatomy lesson prior to spending five days at either the Longmont or Littleton Campus. Following five days on-site, the student must develop a series of case studies over a six week period and mail them in to the school when complete. The on-site program is offered beginning March 19th at the Littleton Campus.
RMSAAM is approved by the Colorado Department of Higher Education, Division of Private Occupational School. All instructors are Colorado State credentialed.
