Lend a helping hand to massage professionals
Massage therapists are one of the top care-giving occupations. Who helps you when something devastating strikes your life?
Massage Without Borders, a newly formed nonprofit organization, was created because one person made a difference.
All it took was one phone call to Gloria Coppola, L.M.T., owner of Massage Pro C.E., a continuing education company, to help a colleague after Hurricane Sandy and an amazing group of massage professionals came together to create this organization.
Massage Without Borders exists to help colleagues with temporary and immediate help during times of natural disaster or severe crisis. Currently, they have helped dozens of massage therapists and bodyworkers after Hurricane Sandy, and have raised more than $18,000 in funds and equipment to distribute.
The organization's next project consists of a national fundraising event in schools and businesses this May. Proceeds will go toward scholarship funds for qualifying students who are dealing with severe financial crisis and are at the risk of dropping out of school.
This June, Massage Without Borders will offer an educational e-auction on eBay. Many of the industry's top continuing education providers are donating their DVD's or courses to raise funds for this cause.
