Stautzenberger College Introduces New Massage Therapy Program, Available Fall 2008

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio, Aug 06, 2008 --- Stautzenberger College is pleased to announce the availability of its new Massage Therapy program, launching in fall 2008. The school is one of few in Northeast Ohio to offer an associate degree program for this discipline.

Stautzenberger College's Massage Therapy program offers a well-rounded core curriculum, which includes business skills training. "We want our students to have a thorough knowledge of massage therapy practice and the business acumen needed to thrive in this highly competitive industry," said Jan Bruml, Massage Therapy Program Director.

While massage therapists work in a variety of work environments, sole practitioners or independent contractors account for the largest percentage of practicing therapists (76%) according to the American Massage Therapy Association.

"We want our students to have the confidence and ability to work independently, as a business partner, or within any of the many exciting career opportunities in the industry," said Bruml.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment for massage therapists is expected to increase 20% from 2006 to 2016, faster than average for all occupations. "It's an exciting time to be involved in this growing discipline," said Donna Palmer, Esq., Director of Stautzenberger College. "We strive to provide a personalized learning experience from expert practitioners who invest themselves in each student's success."

Students participating in the Massage Therapy program are required to complete 96 credit hours to receive their degree. Most students will complete the program in approximately 2 years. To obtain Ohio licensure, graduates must complete classroom/clinical work and pass a state medical board exam. The combination of these requirements makes Ohio massage therapists among the most qualified and respected in the nation. Continued Palmer, "Our students' success is our success. We take pride in seeing our students achieve their goals. We're confident that this new program will produce graduates who will be at the top of this rapidly growing industry."
