The items below are goals, activities and skills we suggest you accomplish by the time you are finished with the sixth segment (6/6) of your education.
- Assemble an appropriate wardrobe
- Begin building a CD selection
- Set your fee schedule (including treatment menu and discount package plans)
- Finalize your business plan
- Compile a list of healthcare providers for cross referrals
- Join at least one networking group and attend meetings
- Get your computer system set up
- Schedule three presentations or demonstrations for after graduation
- Create client forms
- Send letters to practicum clients
- Send packets (letter, brochures, cards, discount coupons, etc.) to referral sources
- Have a job lined up or an office space rented
- Get marketing materials printed: stationery, business cards, brochures, gift certificates, and educational materials (some preprinted materials are available)
- Create a list of furniture, equipment and supplies needed to start up
- Set up a business checking account
- Set up a support system
- Create and upload your Web site
- Send press releases about your practice opening
- Set up a weekly marketing schedule
- Get insurance policies in place
- Apply for business licenses and permits
