Massage therapy student grant program received over 650 applications
AKRON, Ohio - Biofreeze(r), Massage Envy Spa(r) and Bon Vital'(r) are pleased to announce the winners of their collaborative Successful Hands Grant Program. The program was launched in May 2014 to support professional massage therapy students in their educational pursuits.
Students applied for one of five $1,000 grants. In addition, each winner's school received a $1,000 grant package. All applicants were asked to complete a 200-word essay on "What does being a successful massage therapist mean to me?" The submission process closed on Oct. 15, 2014.
The winners are:
- Jerrell Bostick, Daytona State College, Daytona Beach, Florida
- Brea Collier, National Holistic Institute, Studio City, California
- Sharon Edelman, Lourdes Institute of Holistic Studies, Collingswood, New Jersey
- Liliane Li, Lauterstein-Conway Massage School, Austin, Texas
- Donna Reid, Cuyahoga Community College, Highland Hills, Ohio
"It has been truly gratifying to help develop and support this program in partnership with Massage Envy Spa," said Lynda Solien-Wolfe, vice president massage and spa, Performance Health. "We received over 650 applications representing 215 massage therapy schools. Our profession's future is obviously in good hands based on the passion and professionalism illustrated in the applications we received. It wasn't easy for our selection committee to choose the five winning essays-sincerely the best of the best."

"Because of the overwhelming response we had for this program, I'm pleased to announce that we'll be implementing the program again in 2015. We will share all the details in January and begin accepting applications on Feb. 1, 2015."
